The local rules are why you need a container. In Columbia, the county's nine convenience centers are residential-only and capped at a couple of cubic yards a day - so commercial and construction debris can't go there at all and has to go to the Maury County Solid Waste transfer station on Lawson White Drive. And under TDEC rules you can't burn construction, demolition or household debris. So a real project's debris goes the short distance to the transfer station under a covered, separated load - and as a local crew we know the routing, keep the job clean, and point the electronics, tires and brush to the right place.
Tennessee and Maury County route several things carefully. The transfer station runs a load-separation policy - clean scrap metal comes off free and clean concrete can be recycled or reused as fill; brush is kept separate and needs a forestry permit to burn in season; electronics go to a recycler; and household hazardous waste - paint, oil, solvents, pool chemicals - is prohibited from any container. Electronics go to a recycler, tires go back through the county for a fee, and appliances need any refrigerant recovered. Everything else from a normal project goes in the box.
